I have recently retired from employment by the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Department of Pharmaceutical Services providing psychiatric pharmaceutical care to the inpatients of the Stewart and Lynda Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA (RNPH). Beginning as a staff pharmacist in 1981, I advanced to the position as Supervisor of the RNPH Pharmacy Satellite within 2 years. I was integral in the implementation of licensing this pharmacy as a separate pharmacy entity from the UCLA Medical Center and then became the Pharmacist-in-Charge of it within the facility. Over the years I have been involved in all three aspects of the UCLA Health System’s mission (Clinical Care, Education ,Research). I expanded the RNPH Pharmacy program to include patient care rounding, consultation, medication histories/ education. I have participated teaching patients, medical students, residents, and fellows in the realm of psychopharmacology. I have been a guest lecture for UCLA/RNPH sponsored Continuing Education programs as well as the David Geffen School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry. I have consulted on the development, and been responsible for medication distribution aspect of inpatient research projects. In addition to my work at UCLA/RNPH I have been a private consultant on matters of pharmaceutical care and psychopharmacology for public and private entities.
